i'm not on film

but i know a man who is.television filth
we've got a film crew in at work today. they're shooting a new bbc drama about the life of mary whitehouse (gald bless 'er). so i've been sitting in watching the toings and froings of the whole business. there are a lot of people. i mean a lot.

whereas in my job i am spread thinly over a lot of different skills, these guys seem to have a person for each tiny weeny job. there's a girl who's sole job is to carry a rest so that there is something to put cameras on when they aren't shooting.

each person may only do some little very specific thing, but holy quacamole they know about it. everything about it. i swear i overheard two camera lens technicians having an entire conversation only in numbers.

strangely, as i was sitting there i realised that one of the actors sitting right by me was none other but my good ol' friend paul. we both worked on a show at the edinburgh fringe festival about 6 years ago. it turns out he's playing mary whitehouse's son. mary whitehouse is being played by julie walters, who is awesome in real life. really funny to work with, full of jokes and empty of pretence. we all thought that paul would go on to big things; he is a phenomenal actor, nearly at the end of his training now. this is his first film, and he gets to be all moody and tell people to piss off.

i did manage to sneak a quick photo of paul's big moment, but it's a bit blurry. sorry paul.

I am amazed to see that Karl Pilkington and, er... Karl Pilkington are doing the sound on this!
