gruesome, painful and stunning. the proposition has everything you need to be appalled and enamoured. utterly brilliant film making at every level with enough action to keep you entertained and enough tension to turn your buttocks into granite. guy pearce is a frightening hero, john hurt is his usual high quality, this film is superb. 8/10
